Battlefront 2 Review

In a word: excellent. Most of my experience with the game has been in local multiplayer (sitting around with friends on a single Xbox), so aside from those friends' glowing reports on the single player campaign, I can't say anything about that.

Battlefront 2's multiplayer is superb. The level of difficulty of the bots is not high, so winning is not a huge challenge (I cannot recall at this time whether that difficulty can be adjusted, I will update when I find out). Even so, it is very fun to play. Gametypes include Assault (standard Team Deathmatch), CTF, and a mode called Heroes, in which the only playable characters are the main characters, both good and evil, from the six movies.

There are massive upgrades from the gameplay of the original Battlefront. Instead of aerial vehicles being minor additions to standard play, they have been removed from infantry battles, and a new space combat mode has been introduced. That mode is my personal favorite; the goal is to accumulate a certain number of points before the opposing team by winning dogfights, assaulting the enemy's primary assault ship and frigates, and boarding the enemy ship directly for personal combat.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 also improves on the original game's graphics and audio. Neither could be described as stellar, but they definitely do not detract from the game's overall experience. I will report more on these aspects of the game once I can get my hands on it again.

Overall, I'd give the game about an 8.8/10. (Subject to change)
